David Hodge begins his second season as an assistant cross country / track & field coach for the Beavers in 2017-18.

In his first season on the staff, he helped coach an all-conference performer in the high jump and one more in the decathlon.

Hodge most recently served as an assistant track and field coach at Anderson Univesity (Ind.) in 2014-15 where he helped coach one NCAA DIII national qualifer along with three conference champions.  During that year, he was the primary recruiter for jumpers, sprinters and hurdlers.

Prior to Anderson, he spent multiple seasons (2012-14) as the first-ever head cross country/track & field coach at Chatham University (Pa.).  After just one year, he moved the team up two spots in the final standings of the conference championships and in 2014 coached three individual conference champions and one regional qualifier.  He also had six individuals/relays ranked in the top-15 in the President's Athletic Conference (PAC).

In 2012, he guided the cross country team which finished the fall season with a 3.83 team GPA.

In his first two years at Chatham, he brought in 14 recruits which marked the second-highest total among all athletic teams at the university.

Hodge has also spent time as a head cross country coach at Chowan University (N.C.) (2011-12) and Hampden-Sydney College (Va.) (2009-10).

He was a collegiate athlete himself (2004-08) at Grove City College (Pa.) where he was a two-year captain and four-year letterwinner in track & field for a four-time conference championship team.  He finished in the top-four in the triple jump at the PAC championships all four years.  In addition, was a three-time qualifier for ECAC Regional meet in triple jump; finishing in the top-12 each year.

Hodge holds a B.A. in History from Grove City College (2008) and a Master of Science in Sports Management from Slippery Rock University (Pa.) in 2009.

He currently holds certifications in CPR/AED and from the USATF - USA Track & Field Level 1.  He's been a member of USATF, CoSIDA and ECAC-SIDA.
