Michael Elliott joined the Buena Vista University men's wrestling program as an assistant coach for his first season in 2025-26.

Prior to joining the Beavers, Elliott served as an assistant coach for one season at Division II New Mexico Highlands University. Elliott assisted in the development of one super region champion and national qualifier.
 
From 2022-24, Elliott was as an assistant coach at Division II Lander University. During that time, Elliott helped produce 10 national qualifiers, seven All-Americans and one national champion while the team finished as back-to-back National Runners-Up at the NCAA DII National Tournament.

Elliott began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Mary in Bismark, N.D. for the 2021-22 campaign where he helped the Marauders go 10-3 and assisted in the development of four NCAA Div. II national qualifiers and one All-American.

In his four years overall as an assistant coach, Elliott has coached 15 National Qualifiers, eight All-Americans, one national champion and seven individual conference/region champions.

As an undergraduate student-athlete, Elliott wrestled three years at Appalachian State from 2016-2019. During his career, Elliott earned the “All for App” and Most Improved awards. Elliott excelled in his senior year, wrestling at 165 lbs. He recorded a 23-12 record for the season and received national ranking status in the NCAA Div. I poll where he was ranked in the top-30. He was named SoCon Wrestler of the Week after strong performances with individual wins over opponents from the University of Ohio and Oklahoma. Elliott was the SoCon runner-up at 165lbs, which helped App State Clinch a third straight SoCon regular season title.

Elliott is originally from Jefferson, N. C. where he attended Ashe County High School. Elliott also coached at Ashe County High School in the 2019-2020 season. For the Huskies, Elliott was a four-year starter, four-time regional champ, four-time state placer, and capped off his senior year with a state title.
 
Elliott, along with his wife, Amber, reside in Sac City with their son Hank.
