Krista Nelson begins her third season on the Buena Vista volleyball coaching staff in 2024, serving as an assistant coach.
During the 2022 season, BVU finished third in the regular season conference standings before advancing into the championship match of the American Rivers Conference Tournament.
Nelson, a graduate of Spencer High School, brings a wealth of experience and success both as a student-athlete and coach to the program. She went on to play collegiate volleyball at the University of Northern Iowa and became an All-American as a middle blocker.
Following her collegiate playing days, Nelson began a successful professional playing career in both Europe and South America for seven years. For the past 15 years, Nelson has coached individuals, club teams and high school programs.
She, along with husband, Tom, currently reside in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and welcomed their first child (and hopefully future volleyball player) into the family in January of 2023.
