Chris Orlow joined the Buena Vista University coaching staff as assistant cross country/track and field coach beginning in the fall of 2020.  In the spring of 2021, Orlow was named the head cross country coach and head distance coach for the track & field programs.

In the fall of 2020, Orlow helped guide the women's cross country team to its highest conference championship finish in nearly 30 years and also recorded its first all-conference runner in nearly two decades.  Multiple distance race school records have been set for both the men and women's teams over the las three seasons during both the  indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

Orlow brings a wealth of success as a Division I student-athlete to campus.  A 2018 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Orlow was a First Team Ohio Valley Conference selection in cross county as a senior in 2017 and is ranked eighth all-time in program history.  He was also a successful distance runner on the track, scoring team points at the conference championships in the 1,500m run, mile, 5k and distance medley relay.  He also succeeded off of the playing field, earning the Ohio Valley Conference's Medal of Honor for posting a 4.0 GPA.

Orlow most recently served as a graduate assistant for the EIU football team during the 2019 season while completing his master's degree in sports administration.  He also held roles as a football operations intern for the program during the summer of 2019 and as a student assistant within the athletics department throughout the 2017-18 academic year.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing in May of 2018.
