About Sam: Is the daughter of Brian and Karen...has two brothers, Jason and Nic.
High School Highlights: Was a Third-Team All-State selection for the Falcons following her senior campaign.
College Highlights:
2013: She played in all 36 games for the team during her senior year and was the team''s best power threat. She led the way in home runs (8), doubles (11) and RBI (33). She was second on the team with 27 runs and ranked second on the team and ninth in the confernce in batting average (.408). She had one of her best games of the year when she went 3-for-4, including a home run and two RBI, as well as three runs scored during a win over Central which snapped a 20-game losing streak to the Dutch. She also tallied three hits in her final career game. She went 7-for-13 during the IIAC Tournament as the Beavers became the first sixth-seed to win multiple games during the tournament. Following the year, she was tabbed a Second Team All-IIAC selection, Third Team All-Region performer and was also a member of the Academic All-IIAC Team.
2013: She finished fourth on the team with a .281 batting average, while starting all 35 games. Her 27 hits tied for third on the team which included a team-leading three triples and three home runs. She also drove in a team-best 18 runs. One of her best games of the year came against Eastern Connecticut St. when she went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored. She later turned in a three-hit performance and drove in a run during the nightcap of a doubleheader against Wartburg.
2012: Sam had a break-out year, starting all 34 of the team''s games at shortstop and was fifth on the team in hitting. She ended the year ranked second on the team in runs scored and RBI and was third in doubles. She had 11 multi-hit games, including a 2-for-3 effort with a home run and four RBI in the opener against Northwestern College. Later in the year, she went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs scored in the finale against Cornell College. Following the year, she was named an Honorable Mention All-IIAC selection.
2011: Started all but two of the 33 games she appeared in. She tied for fourth in runs scored and led the way with five stolen bases. She picked up her first collegiate hit in her only official at-bat against St. Thomas on March 4. She posted her first career multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 in the opener of a doubleheader against Dordt College on April 13 and capped the year with two hits in three of her final four outings. Her first career home run was hit against Kalamazoo on March 21.
Aside from athletics, she has been involved with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) throughout her career.
