About Gary: Is the son of Don and Mindy Balk...Has one brother, Brad, as well as one sister, Joanne.

High School Highlights: Was a three-year letterwinner for the Hawks. As both a junior and senior, he was tabbed a First Team All-District selection and was a Preseason All-State selection prior to his senior campaign. Following his final season, he was named to the Iowa Newspaper Association''s First Team All-State.

In addition to football, he also earned a pair of letters in wrestling and three more in track.

College Highlights:
2013: Played in seven games for the Beavers and was key component on the offensive line which helped produce the league''s third-highest passing offense in the league.  It also blocked for a running game that averaged nearly 115 yards on the ground per game.

2012: Played primarily as a member of the junior varsity team.

2011: Played primarily on the junior varsity team, while seeing limited action off the bench at the varsity level.

2010: He saw most of his action with the junior varsity squad.
