Biography

About Mason: Is the son of David and Kari...has one brother, Tanner.

High School Highlights: Was a two-time varsity letterwinner in football for the Toreadors.  As a senior, he served as a team captain and went on to earn First Team All-District accolades as well as Third Team All-State honors.  As a junior, he also went on to earn Honorable Mention All-District recognition.

In addition to football, he lettered all four years in wrestling where he served as a team captain during both his junior and senior campaigns.  He was a Racoon River conference champion as a senior, while also going on to capture a district championship and earn a seventh-place finish at the Iowa State Tournament.  He also earned a district championship as a junior which also earned him a trip to state for the first time.  He is the school record holder for wins in a season (42) and career (112).

He also lettered two years in track (2012 and 2013).

Aside from athletics, he was the receipient of the Goeppinger Award, was listed on the Honor Roll for all eight semesters and was an Academic All-District selection in both 2012 and 2013.

College Highlights:

2017: In his senior season, Mason would tally another 41 tackles, tied for eighth on the team. He had two sacks against Coe and would finish the season with five tackles for a loss. He also forced a fumble. 

2016: Mason would play in all ten games for the beavers and record 43 tackles, good for eighth on the team. He had four and a half tackles for a loss, two and a half sacks, and forced a fumble. 

2015: He would appear in all 10 games for the beavers this season. He would record a career high 21 tackles throughout the season including 0.5 sacks. Against Dubuque he would have 4 tackles (2 solo, 2 assisted) and 0.5 sacks. 

2014: Mason appeared in all 10 games for the Beavers as a freshman and finished ninth on the team in total tackles with 31.  He also added a pair of fumble recoveries.  Against Coe College, in the season finale, he registered a career-high seven tackles, surpassing his previous best of five set twice early in the season.
