Box Score SAUGET, Ill. (March 6, 2026) - The Buena Vista baseball team played its first game of the spring break trip on Friday afternoon against Webster University, and after grabbing an early lead, the Beavers allowed nine unanswered runs to the Gorloks en route to a tough 9-1 setback inside of Arsenal BG Ballpark.
Junior
Brandon Jenkins put BVU on the board with a one-out sacrifice fly in the second inning that scored
Cooper Sobeck who had doubled to lead off the inning. From that point on, the Beavers were held without a hit until junior
Jake Eddie singled to left in the eighth inning. The team struck out 12 times in the game.
Webster took its first lead of the afternoon in the fourth by getting an RBI triple followed by a squeeze bunt. The Gorloks, who out-hit BVU 8-2 overall, extended the margin to 3-1 in the sixth before breaking things open with a six-run eighth inning.
Junior
Ean McDaniel pitched into the eighth inning for the Beavers and ended his day by allowing five runs (four earned) and six hits while striking out three.
Koleson Evans came on in relief and was tagged for three runs on only one hit but did hit two batters over 0.1 innings. Freshman
Kalab Kuhl closed out the inning by allowing one run and one hit with one strike out over his four batters faced.
Ryan Hartz was 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Gorloks and was the only player with multiple hits in the game. Dalton Graves added one hit, three RBI and scored a run as Webster improved to 3-7 on the year.
Buena Vista drops to 2-5 overall and is right back on the diamond inside of Arsenal BG Ballpark against North Park University on Saturday (March 7). First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
