BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Jan. 2, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's wrestling team won four of the final six weight classes, including by fall in the final match, but the late rally was just short, as the Beavers dropped a non-conference road dual at Illinois Wesleyan on Friday night.
In the first action since the BVU Open on Dec. 6, Buena Vista fell behind 18-0 after the first four matches which included a pair of narrow decisions. Junior LaTravion Agu got the Beavers on the board with his second major decision of the year and improved his overall record to 7-7.
Senior
Hayden Stout followed at 165 pounds with his second fall of the year with 1:03 left in the opening period. Senior
Trevor Kruse pulled BVU within 21-16 after winning by forfeit at 184 pounds. Fellow senior
Luis Salazar battled at 197 pounds but was edged in a 6-3 decision before junior
Colton O'Hern closed the dual with a second period fall at 285 pounds for his first fall of the year.
Buena Vista is now 1-5 on the year and is right back on the mat on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Fred Johnson Duals hosted by Augustana College (Ill.).
