DUBUQUE, Iowa (Sept. 26, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team was on the road Friday afternoon in search of its second straight win, but the Beavers dropped the American Rivers Conference match against the University of Dubuque, 7-0.
It was a good battle throughout doubles action in all three matches, but the Spartans eventually picked up a 6-3 win at No. 1 and took No. 2 and No. 3 by identical 6-2 margins.
BVU, who had won four of the previous five matches against Dubuque, just couldn't string together many points on the day and fell in straight sets in all six singles matches. The Spartans held the Beavers scoreless in the final three.
"I think the ladies played really well in doubles," said BVU head coach
Dan Taylor. "All of the sets were competitive against a very strong team. UD had a lot of big hitters with power and heavy topspin. We played a lot of defense in points and it was very challenging. Our ladies continue to improve and fight hard, and we will keep building for the future!"
The Beavers remain in Dubuque and are right back in action Saturday morning when they face Loras College in American Rivers Conference play beginning at 10 a.m. It marks the team's final road match of the regular season.
