RIPON, Wis. (Sept. 13, 2025) - The Buena Vista volleyball team suffered a tough 3-1 loss against Westminster to begin its day on Saturday at the Ripon College Red Hawks Invite, but ended the two-day event on a strong note with a commanding 3-0 sweep of Mount Mary.
BVU trailed 2-14 in the opening set of the match against Westminster before going on a huge rally by scoring nine of the next 10 points and taking a 23-22 lead. Westminster tied it at 23-23 but a kill from freshman
Keylee Gregg and a serving ace by
Sophia Taylor. From there, though, it was all Westminster as it won the next three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-19.Â
Gregg finished with a career-high 15 kills as fellow freshman
Charley Hernandez added 11 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
Merced Ramirez dished out 28 assists and added 18 digs.Â
It was all Beavers against Mount Mary (0-3) as BVU rolled to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-11 sweep. Hernandez and Gregg combined for 15 kills with Ramirez recording 24 assists and 15 digs.
Buena Vista is now 5-7 on the year and will travel to Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday, Sept. 17 for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
