In game one, the Beavers started the game out quickly, as they scored three runs in the first inning. Junior Rylie Garner grounded out allowing Druskis to score. Following that, senior Kayla Farmer doubled allowing freshman Bradi Krager to score. To score the third run, sophomore Jillian Garcia singled allowing Farmer to score.
During the third inning, BVU got back on the board when Farmer grounded out allowing Elwood to score. Freshman Jordan Fabirkiewicz grounded out to third base allowing Garner to score. In the fourth, Druskis singled, and with the assist of a Knight error, allowed senior Danica Workman to be able to score. Building off the BVU momentum, Krager grounded out to the pitcher allowing Druskis to come across. Garner also singled letting Elwood go and score. In the fifth inning, Workman was able to close out the game off a wild pitch score.
Junior Grace Fuhrman (2-5) pitched all five innings of game one, allowing five hits, one run, no walks, and six strikeouts. Garner and Farmer both had doubles. Elwood and Garcia also had triples and Druskis also had a stolen base in the game.
Game two started out very efficiently as the Beavers scored nine runs in the first inning. Druskis scored twice, and Krager, freshman Avery France, sophomore Geneva Galler, Farmer, Fabirkiewicz, and Garcia all scored in that first inning by a whole team combined effort. Going into the bottom of the second, Fabirkiewicz scored off a Garcia single, Druskis was also able to single allowing Galler to score. In the fourth, Elwood and France scored off of doubles from France and Fabirkiewicz.
Junior Kenzie Dumbaugh (2-5) got the start and allowed five hits, three, runs, one walk, and three strikeouts in two innings. Krager was awarded a save as she came in and had allowed no hits, no walks, and chalked up five strikeouts over the final three innings. In batting performances, the Beavers had five doubles - Druskis, Elwood, France, Fabirkiewicz, and Galler. Elwood also had a triple along with a stolen base and Krager had two stolen bases. Garcia was hit by a pitch twice and Galler once in game two as well in the dominant 13-3 mercy-rule victory for the Beavers.
Buena Vista is now at 7-13 after the doubleheader home wins. The team turns right around on Tuesday, Apr. 8 at 2 p.m. to travel to Pella, Iowa, to take on Central College in an A-R-C doubleheader.
