HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 7, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team played its final match of its spring trip on Friday morning, but the Beavers came up short against Bridgewater, 6-1.
Macy Weller and
Hailey Meseck dropped a hard fought 6-4 decision at No. 1 doubles for BVU as Bridgewater went on to take all three doubles bouts.
Meseck came through in her No. 3 singles match for the Beavers, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Bridgewater picked up straight sets win in the remaining five singles matches to secure the win.
"Bridgewater was a solid team with a lot of depth at the bottom of the lineup," said BVU head coach
Dan Taylor. "Abby, Fiona and Allison all played hard and hit some good shots, but their players had really solid defensive skills and kept balls in play. Hailey played excellent defense herself and won her 6th singles match out of seven so far this spring season, which is a tremendous accomplishment. Her and Macy played very well in doubles and lost a close set. Macy and Taylor both had competitive matches at the top two spots. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with how the ladies played the entire spring break trip. We started with two wins in Missouri and Georgia, and in the three losses at Hilton Head, they played very well against strong teams. We'll get back to practice for a few weeks and then wrap up the season in April with our duals in New Ulm."
Buena Vista returns to the court on Apr. 8 at New Ulm, Minn., to wrap up their season with matches against both Martin Luther College and Crown College.
