Smash Gold Advances to LAN with win over Simpson

STORM LAKE, Iowa - BVU Smash Gold pulled an upset over #4 Simpson College in Midwest Valley Esports Conference quarterfinals with a 2-0 (3-1, 5-0) victory. The Beavers are the #5 seed and have advanced to compete in the LAN at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. The Beavers will take on the #1 seed Cornell College in the semifinals on Sunday, April 6th. 

In game one the Beavers opened with Elphazard Kadisha on Mewtwo. Voldy played a close match with Simpsons #1 falling 3-2 and giving Simpson the 1-0 advantage. In game two the Beavers line up Gregory Stueven where he won 3-1  giving the Beavers the 2-1 lead going into the third and final player. Nick Becker took the controller and played a close match winning 3-2, giving the Beavers the 3-1 victory in game one. 

In game two the Beavers went with the same lineup. Voldy got revenge from the first round winning 3-1 giving BVU the 2-0 lead. Stueven followed that up with a 3-1 victory which gave BVU a commanding 4-0 lead. Becker played another close match winning 3-2 which gave the Beavers the 5-0 victory in game two and a 2-0 match victory.
