Women's Hoops Drops Home Finale to No. 13 Wartburg

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 15, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team wrapped up its home schedule on Saturday with a tough 99-56 loss to No. 13 Wartburg College.

The Knights scored the first 13 points of the game and led 18-9 after one quarter before extending the margin to 38-21 at the half. Wartburg broke the game wide open in the third quarter by outscoring the Beavers, 36-7.

Buena Vista was held to 33.3 percent shooting from the field and just 6-of-24 from downtown. After being held to only two free-throw attempts in the opening half, the Beavers were 7-of-8 in the second. The Knights got 46 points in the paint and shot over 54 percent from the field and were 12-of-30 from distance.

Wartburg dominated the Beavers on the glass 48-19, including 15 offensive boards which led to 21 second chance points.

Freshman Tyme Boettcher led BVU with nine points on 4-of-9 shooting. Junior Madalynn Hilgendorf added seven points and McKenna Cone knocked down a pair of three-pointers to finish with six points.

Jaedon Murphy scored a game-high 20 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to pace Wartburg (22-2, 15-0 A-R-C). Britney Young nailed four three-point buckets and followed with 14 points while Lauren Woeste and Ava Trettin scored 13 and 11, respectively.

Buena Vista is now 8-15 overall (3-11 A-R-C) and travels to Simpson College on Wednesday, Feb. 19, for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off against the Storm.
