WAVERLY, Iowa (Feb. 1, 2025) - The Buena Vista University indoor track & field team returned to action on Saturday by taking part in the Wartburg College Indoor Select Meet. The Beavers finished the day with four runner-up finishes.
Seniors
Kyle Miller (800m),
Kaden Sadler (5k) and
David Crow (weight throw), along with sophomore
Devon Schultz (pole vault) all took second in their respective events. Schultz set a new season best and is currently ranked #44 in NCAA DIII after clearing 4.55m (14-11.0). Sadler had a photo finish in his 5k race and was held off by 0.17 seconds by Ahmed Aldamak who was competing unattached. Despite taking second, he managed to still set a new school record in the event for the second time at 15:26.38.
Miller was second to cross the in the 800m in 1:52.76 and was edged by Wartburg's Hutton Edney, who surpassed Miller's meet record of 1:52.39 set last season. Crow registered his best toss of the day in the weight throw of 14.88m (48-10.0) to take second by only six inches.Â
Isaiah Thomas gave BVU a top-5 finish in the triple jump at 12.53m (41-1.5). Junior
Easton Hays narrowly missed a top-5 finish in the long jump by taking sixth with a leap of 6.15m (20-2.25).
Buena Vista continues its schedule on Feb. 8 at the Luther College Open in Decorah, Iowa.
