Storm Lake, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Archery team continued its strong start to the 2025–26 season with an impressive showing at its home tournament inside the Lamberti Recreation Center on Sunday, November 2. The Beavers claimed multiple podium sweeps, top finishes across several divisions, and ultimately secured the overall team victory, marking their second tournament win in a row.

In the Women’s Compound 300, freshman Liz Welsh returned to the top spot with a Gold medal, followed by senior Madison Overby with Silver.

BVU dominated the Women’s Fixed Pin 300 division with a clean sweep of the podium. Junior Gracy Elsenbast earned Gold, Mariah Hadley took Silver, and sophomore Regan Schurg rounded out the trio with Bronze.

The Beavers repeated the feat in the Men’s Fixed Pin 300, where junior Joe Knieper captured Gold, sophomore Ethan Stemper earned Silver, and Lee Houser brought home the Bronze.

BVU continued its momentum in the Elimination Rounds, where Welsh and Overby added Silver and Bronze, respectively, in Women’s Compound. In Women’s Fixed Pin, Hadley claimed Gold, followed by Elsenbast with Silver and Schurg with Bronze, marking another BVU podium sweep. On the Men’s side, Knieper secured the Gold and Stemper with the Silver.

Our archers competed with heart, focus, and sportsmanship. To earn this kind of result at home, surrounded by our BVU community and supporters, means a lot. We’re proud of the growth we’ve seen, and even more excited about where this team is headed.
Conner Ellinghuysen, BVU Head Archery Coach

The team’s success carried into the Mixed Doubles competition. In Barebow, freshmen Keilana Lieb and Lily Eggman earned Bronze. The Compound division saw Overby and Welsh claim Silver, while Knieper and Hadley captured Gold in Fixed Pin Mixed Doubles.

When the final arrows landed, BVU’s consistency and teamwork secured the overall Home Tournament Championship, highlighting the program’s continued growth and depth across all divisions.

During the event, BVU Archery also took time to honor BVU alumna and Emmetsburg Elite Archery coach, Stacy Bohl, for her ongoing support of BVU Archery and her dedication to developing the next generation of student-athletes.

BVU Archery will return to action later this fall as the team continues its indoor season schedule.
