Playing in snow-covered conditions all game long, Fussell had a standout performances by rushing for a career-high 259 yards and three touchdowns on 32 total attempts. He took his first hand off of the day and scampered 45 yards down field and went on to take the ball on the next seven snaps as well which set-up a two-yard touchdown pass that gave BVU a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter. He continued in the second half by finding the endzone for all three of his rushing touchdowns from 5, 2, and 72 yards, respectively. Fussell's rushing performance was the highest total by any A-R-C player in the league this season, the 10th best in DIII on the year, and the fifth-best total for any BVU player all-time. His 72-yard touchdown burst for the game's final score went down as the fifth-longest run by any conference player.
Fisher came up big for BVU on the defensive side of the ball late in the first half with a 60-yard pick six where he went untouched down the far sideline that gave the Beavers a 14-0 lead with just over 90 seconds left to play in the first half. He nearly had one early in the game but as he stepped in front of the receiver, the ball deflected through his hands and went down as a pass breakup. The interception was the second of the year for Fisher, who like Fussell, is being recognized for the first time in his career.
The weekly nods were the second and third ones for BVU this season. Senior Meven Obregon was honored back on Oct. 13.
The duo were big factors in the game as BVU went on to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan, 34-21, in what was the team's final home game this season. The Beavers will wrap up the season on Saturday, Nov. 15, on the road at No. 6 Wartburg College with kickoff at 1 p.m.
