STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 25, 2025) - The Buena Vista University men's indoor track & field team put on a strong showing Saturday inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center by winning six events and posting multiple personal best marks during the annual Dennis Young Indoor Classic.
BVU got things going early on in the field events with senior David Crow taking the crown in the weight throw and junior Abraham Christensen placing third. Crow turned in a personal best heave of 14.76m (48-5.25) and Christensen's was a season-best at 13.93m (45-8.5). The duo reversed standings in the shot put as Christensen was the champion after a winning heave of 14.49m and Crow was third with a personal best mark of 14.49m.
Senior Isaiah Thomas won the triple jump at 12.97m which is a season best. Sophomore Gavin Firchau was a foot back and took second while freshman Ethan Martin posted a personal best and came in fourth at11.86m (38-11.0).
Blaine Peebles won the long jump title for the Beavers with Devon Schultz continuing to shine in the pole vault by taking the title with a season-best mark.
The 4x800m relay team of Carter Braun, Aiden Egertson, Kaden Sadler and Kyle Miller attempted to go after a school record but came up 13 seconds short despite winning the race in 8:05.04 which is still a top-3 time in program history. The 4x200m relay also took gold to cap the day for the Beavers.
