SCOUTING THE STORM

The Storm are looking to even up their record after a tough loss against No. 12 Wartburg (46-21) last week. They are currently 2-3 in conference play hoping to hold strong as they are currently undefeated at home this season.

Starting Quarterback Jay Jensen III leads the Storm offensively, along with Wideout Noah Cracraft. Through their first seven games this season, Jensen has completed close to 65 percent of his pass attempts for 1,821 yards. He's thrown for 18 passing TD’s and has thrown seven interceptions. Cracraft has been their top target so far averaging 110.7 receiving yards per game with 10 receiving TDs. Freshman RB Demarcio Young has also been a major contribution for this storm offense posting 530 yards on the season with 5 rushing TDs. The storm is looking to establish an air attack this weekend.

DB Peyton Betts and LB CJ Hangartner lead the storm defense with 46 total tackles each with Betts adding 3 INTs and Hangartner adding 5.0 sacks, 10 TFLs and 2 INTs. Sr. Linebacker Zach Truitt is right behind with 42 total stops. The unit has 15.0 sacks on the year for 91 yards and has 11 interceptions.

Tanner Philpott has punted 36 times so far for 1309 yards, averaging 39.4 yards per punt, with his long of 78, putting ten inside the 20. Aiden Lanier has attempted five field goals this season, only converting two of them, with a long of 40 yards.

ABOUT THE BEAVERS

BVU is back on the road for its American Rivers Conference game this week against the Storm. The Beavers are coming off a bye week, looking to get back in the win column after a hard loss against Wartburg a couple weeks ago.

The Beavers are trying to find consistency on the offensive side of the ball where they showed a glimpse in the second half of the game against Wartburg. Senior quarterback Zach Herrera has completed 60 percent of his pass attempts for a combined 889 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Blaine Peebles has still been one of his favorite targets catching 25 passes for 284 yards and four scores, Johnny Dickerson also adding his first receiving TD last game.

On the ground, senior Eman Alaniz, is still the work horse getting the majority of the touches with 96 touches on the season, averaging 3.3 yards per carry and has rushed for 317 yards and four scores. Meven Obregon has the team's longest run from scrimmage this season at 52 yards on just his second carry of the year. That scamper resulted in the team's first touchdown of the game against Wisconsin Lutheran.

Defensively, Jr. linebacker Troy Reynolds has helped lead the way with 61 total tackles, including 30 solo stops and 2.0 TFLs and a INT. Following is senior Austin Smith with 44 tackles, and a INT, as well as defensive lineman Keaton Bindel with 32 tackles, including 2.0 sacks. As a unit, the Beavers have 15.5 TFL's overall and three sacks so far. Still looking to get off the field on third downs consistently, opponents are converting nearly 50 percent of the time on third down (32-of-66).

Matthew Beisswenger has a team-leading seven pass breakups and has also gotten the job down with his leg. Through six games, he has 34 punt attempts for a total of 1,127 yards total and an avg. of 33.15 yards per attempt. Nine of those have been fair caught with his long to this point in the year going for 57 yards, with eight being inside the 20. He's also averaging 53.4 yards per kickoff attempt and has made 2-of-4 field goal attempts.
