INDIANOLA, Iowa (Oct. 23, 2024) - The Buena Vista University volleyball team returned to action on Wednesday at Simpson College and got a team-high nine kills and 10 digs from fifth-year senior
Rachel Brockney, but the Beavers were handed a tough 3-0 setback by the Storm.
Brockney had her nine kills on 26 total swings to finish with a .192 attack percentage.
Reese Nieuwenhuis was next with five kills but had six errors on 29 total attempts. BVU finished the match with only 21 kills while making 19 errors.
Sophomore
Jadyn Rausch dished out 19 saves and tied for second on the team with eight digs.Â
Simpson came out with 16 kills in the opening set while holding BVU to only 10 and went on to secure a 25-19 victory. Both sides were held to under 10 kills in the second set, but it was the Beavers unable to overcome 10 attack errors in the frame which led to a 25-14 win for the Storm. The third set was a battle from start to finish, but Simpson was aided by its 17 kills to hold off BVU, 25-21.
Emily Williams had a match-high 19 kills to help lead the offensive attack for the Storm (7-12, 1-4 A-R-C) while Jada Schmidt was next with seven.
Buena Vista now sits at 5-17 on the year and drops to 0-5 in conference play. The Beavers return to action next Friday, Nov. 1 to host Loras College at 6 p.m. inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
