Women's Basketball Suffers Road Loss to Dutch

PELLA, Iowa (Jan. 31, 2024) - The Buena Vista women's basketball returned to action for the first time in a week for an American Rivers Conference road game Wednesday night at Central College. The Beavers couldn't overcome a slow offensive start as the Dutch rolled to a 75-38 victory.

BVU was held to single digits in each of the first two quarters and trailed 36-15 at the half. The Beavers had their best offensive quarter to start the second half with five made field goals but Central had an answer each time and extended its lead to 53-28 heading to the fourth.

The Dutch outscored the Beavers by 13 points at the free-throw line, making 16-of-22 while BVU managed to attempt only six overall (making three). Central also outscored BVU by 12 points from beyond the arc while making seven overall.

WBB BVU Central McKenna Cone

Senior Addison Weber and junior McKenna Cone paced the Beavers with 10 points each while combining to make each of the team's three long range buckets. Cone also chipped in with a team-leading six rebounds.

Buena Vista finished the game at 29.1 percent shooting from the floor and 3-of-17 from downtown. The Dutch outrebounded the team 50-33 overall, including a 15-6 edge on the offensive end, which led to 17 second chance points.
