WATERTOWN, Wis. (Sept. 14, 2023) - Sophomore Kendall Bickford scored twice and added an assist to help lead the Buena Vista men's soccer team to a strong 5-1 victory on Thursday afternoon over Maranatha Baptist.

Bickford, who finished the match with a team-leading five shots, scored consecutive goals over a two-minute span 15 minutes into the second half to make it 4-0. Nearly 10 minutes into the period, it was his assist to Benjamin Heinze that made it a 2-0 advantage.

Eduardo Garcia scored his first goal of the year and the first goal of the match late in the first half while Kade Stover put the finishing touches on the team's first win in exactly two years off an assist from Isaiah Thomas during the 76th minute. The Beavers out-shot MBU 17-4 in the contest.

BVU's last victory was a 2-1 triumph over Crown College back on September 14, 2021.

Buena Vista improves to 1-3-1 on the year and travels to Ripon College on Saturday, Sept. 16, for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
