MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Feb. 4, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's indoor track & field team took part in the Gopher Classic on Saturday, hosted by the University of Minnesota, and had multiple finishes that rank high on the program's all-time record lists.
Jessica Sump qualified second into the 60m hurdles (9.45s) and would go onto finish third with a time of 9.35 seconds. That mark pushes her up to third on the all-time chart.
Domonique Rivers came in fourth in the 60m dash in 8.11 seconds and sits seventh.
The team continued its success in the sprint races as
Katara Jondle was runner-up in between a pair of U of M runners with a time of 26.28 seconds. That moves her up the charts to number three all-time in the event.
Hannah Olson was a second behind and placed seventh. Jondle also broke the one minute mark in the 400m dash and placed fifth in 59.88 which sits third all-time.
Zoie Callan turned in a time of 5:45.16 in the mile run, placing ninth overall, and is the eighth-fastest mark in program history.
Becca Simpson continues her strong season by taking second in the weight throw with a heave of 55-2.25 and finished in between a pair of unattached U of M individuals. She then took the crown in the shot put with a mark of 44-11 and won the event by just over one foot.
Sump came through in the field events as well, taking fourth in the long jump with a leap of 16-10.5.
Buena Vista heads to Grinnell College on Feb. 11 to take part in the Darren Young Classic.
