DUBUQUE, Iowa (Oct. 28) - The Buena Vista volleyball team concluded its weekend trip to the city of Dubuque on Saturday, but the Beavers would fall short in a 3-0 loss to the Spartans inside of the Stoltz Center.

Skylar Cole led BVU with six kills on the afternoon with fellow seniors
Molly McCauley adding four and
Rachel Brockney three. The Beavers were held to only 21 kills in the match with 22 attack errors. The Spartans, meanwhile, posted 38 kills and just nine attack errors.
BVU led 3-2 early on in the opening set before an 8-2 run by Dubuque put the Spartans in front for good en route to a 25-14 victory. Dubuque led 4-1 out of the gate in the second before a kill from
Grace Coble and a set error by Dubuque pulled the Beavers back within 7-6. From there, however, it was an 8-1 surge by the Spartans which put them up 15-7 en route to a 25-16 victory.
It turned out to be all Dubuque (20-8, 7-0 A-R-C) in the final set after the Beavers led early on at 4-2. The Spartans rolled off six straight to go up 8-4 before another 6-0 spurt made it 14-5 as they went on to win 25-9 and secured at least a share of the regular season conference title.
Cole, who led BVU with a .356 attack percentage, also added three digs and a block assist while McCauley added eight digs and two block assists.
Jilly Janssen dished out 13 assists with Coble adding five.
Molly Bense helped anchor the defense with nine digs and turned in the team's only ace serve.
Buena Vista is now 6-17 overall (0-7 A-R-C) and will wrap up its season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Central College.
