WAVERLY, Iowa (Oct. 24, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team wrapped up its 2023 campaign on Wednesday night with a 5-0 road loss at Wartburg College.

The Knights got the scoring started with a goal during the 15th minute before adding a second during the 32nd minute for a 2-0 halftime lead. The Beavers were held without a shot attempt in the opening period.

Wartburg ended the game with 36 total shots as BVU was held to only a second-half attempt by Bailey Gibbons. The Knights began to pull away with the third goal just six minutes into the second half before adding insurance goals during the 63rd and 87th minutes, respectively.

Lauren Kirkle and Nikayla Youngblut had five shots apiece to  help lead Wartburg with Youngblut adding one of the team's five goals. 

Trisha Westphal played all 90 minutes in-goal for the Beavers and finished the match with 11 saves.

Buena Vista concludes the year at 3-13 overall (0-8 A-R-C). The match also concludes the careers of seniors Alison Wardenburg, Hannah Whitver and Kylee Brown.
