GRINNELL, Iowa (Oct. 15, 2023) - Buena Vista sophomore
Kendall Bickford scored his eighth goal of the season for the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Sunday at Grinnell College, but it was too-little-too late as the Pioneers scored five times in the first half en route to a 5-1 victory.
Grinnell scored three of its five first half goals within the first 15 minutes, including a pair of from Dylan Maddux. Jimmy Miseda made it 4-0 midway through the half before adding his second goal during the 40th minute for the 5-0 cushion.
Bickford then put the Beavers on the board at the 74:11 mark when he converted a penalty kick attempt for his team-leading eighth goal of the year. That moves him into sole possession of fifth-place on the program's single-season list and he currently is tied for fourth among all American Rivers Conference players.
The Pioneers (5-4-4) chalked up 21 total shots in the game, including 14 on-goal, with BVU turning in 10 attempts overall. Bickford turned in a team-high four shots for the Beavers while
Kade Stover added two.
Zachary Sigler played all 90 minutes in-goal for BVU and made nine saves.
Buena Vista is now 1-11-3 overall and travels to Nebraska Wesleyan University on Oct. 18 for a 7:30 p.m. against the Prairie Wolves.
