WAVERLY, Iowa (Oct. 13, 2023) - The Buena Vista volleyball team went on the road Friday night to play a pair of matches during the Wartburg College Triangular, but the Beavers would drop three-set outings at the hands of Bethel University (25-20, 25-19, 25-22) and St. Olaf College (25-14, 25-18, 25-12).
Against the Royals (6-13),
Molly McCauley helped led the way with nine kills, nine digs and one blocked shot, while
Skylar Cole followed right behind with eigth kills and one block. The Beavers posted 10 kills in each of the final two sets after tallying nine in the opener.Â
Mallory Ignaszewski posted a career-best three ace serves in the match as BVU turned in nine overall.
Grace Coble added two aces and led the way with 23 assists.
Molly Bense paced the Beavers, defensively, with 12 digs as was
Hope Vanderlinden.
St. Olaf (13-7) finished with nearly double the number of kills in the nightcap, finishing with 49 compared to BVU's 23. It capped the night with 19 kills in the third set while the Beavers were held under 10 kills in all three frames.Â
McCauley again led the way with six kills at the net for BVU while Cole, along with
Rachel Brockney chimed in with five. McCauley also added 12 digs, three ace serves and a pair of blocks. Cole added a team-high four blocks with Coble again leading the way with 21 assists.
Buena Vista is now 6-14 on the year and returns to conference play on Oct. 18 when Simpson College comes to Siebens Fieldhouse for Senior Night at 6 p.m.
