DES MOINES, Iowa (April 30, 2022) - The Buena Vista University Women's Track and Field Team headed to Drake and Simpson this weekend to compete in the 112
th Drake Relays and 16
th Kip Janvrin meets respectfully. The team took on talent from all divisions and performed very well in both meets.
Starting off with the field events,
Courtney Johnson turned in a season-best in the javelin with a throw of 33.87m that secured her 3
rd place. The throws crew got another top-5 finish with a throw of 13.37m for
Becca Simpson in the shot put for a 5
th place finish. Lastly in the field events,
Skylar Cole got a 4
th place finish in the high jump. On to the track, the Beavers keep it up with a couple of season bests.
Hannah Olson had one in the 400m dash while Iris Indgren had one in the 400m hurdles.
Moving to the Blue Oval, the 4x400m team of
Jade Hays,
Tabitha Guyett,
Wren Klump, and
Jadyn Forbes ran a season's best time of 4:07.26. The 4x100 also had a season-best time with a team comprised of
Jade Hays,
Christina Jackson,
Katara Jondle, and
Domonique Rivers and ran a time of 49.56.
Next Saturday, May 7th, the team looks to head to the Mustang Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Beavers look to continue to improve on their current marks as they near the end of their season.
