STORM LAKE, Iowa (April 12th, 2022) - Fresh off a three-game weeked series sweep at Simpson College, the Buena Vista baseball team will hit the road this afternoon for a 3 p.m. matchup vs Nebraska Wesleyan.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN

Nebraska Wesleyan enters Tuesday's matchup after going 1-2 in a three game weekend series against #18 Loras. 

Their lineup currently ranks 5th in the A-R-C with 167 runs scored. They will be led by Derek Kolbush. Kolbush has been among the A-R-C's best entering Tuesday with an A-R-C leading 10 homeruns to go along with a 0.388 batting average (9th in A-R-C). 

As a pitching staff they rank 8th in the A-R-C with a 7.16 ERA. The staff is headlined by Dylan Cox who enters the contest with a 3.43 ERA (7th in A-R-C).

The Beavers enter Tuesday's matchup sitting a top A-R-C standings (15-8, 7-2) after sweeping a three game weekend series vs Simpson College. They will look to extend their three game winning streak. 

The Beavers lineup currently ranks second in the A-R-C with 229 runs scored. They will look for continued contributions from leading hitters Evan Taylor and Joel Garcia. Evan Taylor has continued to rank among the A-R-C leaders in his freshman campaign. Taylor enters Tuesday's matchup hitting 0.414 (4th in A-R-C) with 3 homeruns (8th in A-R-C) and 26 RBIs (7th in A-R-C). Along with Taylor, Joel Garcia has also been a part of a strong freshman class for the Beavers. On the season Garcia is hitting 0.380 (13th in A-R-C) with 2 homeruns (17th in A-R-C) and 35 RBIs (2nd in A-R-C). 

As a pitching staff the Beavers currently rank 7th in the A-R-C with a team ERA of 6.39. The staff has been led by starter Morgan Smith. In his freshman campaign Smith has won 3 games (6th in A-R-C) while sporting a 3.65 ERA (9th in the A-R-C) with 52 strikeouts (3rd in A-R-C) over 37.0 innings (6th in A-R-C).
