Game 1 | The Buena Vista University softball team played its second pair games down in the Arizona desert on Wednesday with the Beavers splitting the day over Sul-Ross State and Baldwin-Wallace, respectively. Â
BVU started the day off with Sul-Ross, the team it ended with yesterday, but this time the rally late didn't quite get the win. The Beavers jumped ahead early, scoring four runs in the first inning, beginning with Jamie Wendt singling to center field to bring in Alyssa Barnhart and Carlee Guyett. Right after Chloe Wells reached base by a fielding error by the second baseman, she advanced to second while Wendt scored. Lastly Rylee Cain singled to right field bringing home Wells. Â
Unfortunately, that was the last score the Beavers had for game 1. Sul-Ross answered the scoring of BVU in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs alone off BVU errors. Â
BVU attempted many comebacks but couldn't quite get any runners in for a score. This loss snaps the Beavers seven-game winning streak as its the first in the last eight for the Beavers. Â

Game 2 | The second game had a good deal of scoring. Things looked to be going against BVU early on, as Baldwin-Wallace began the game hot scoring five runs in the first inning.Â
BVU kept its composure and slightly started to come back in the second. Ashtyn Miller singled to left center, causing Carlee Guyett to score, as well as Nattie Murillo scoring on a error by the shortstop. BVU slowly started to chip in the lead ending the third down 5-3. Â
In the fourth errors started to haunt Baldwin-Wallace, as two BVU players moved into scoring position. Paige Druskis' sacrifice bunt brought home one of the runners to only trail by one with only 1 out. From there, the Beavers opened the scoreboard and never looked back; starting with Guyett doubling down the right field line, bringing in Nikki Griggs to score to tie the game up. From there, the Beavers scored five of their 10 runs of the game. The inning ended with the Beavers racking up seven runs off three hits. Â
Baldwin-Wallace scored one run in each of the 5th and 6th innings, but it was not enough as the Beavers ran off with the win.Â
Buena Vista will look to keep the winning ways going on Thursday as it plays two more games starting with Northwestern College (IA) at 2:30 p.m. MST (3:30 p.m. CST). The team wraps up the day against Concordia (Neb.) at 4:45 p.m. MST (5:45 p.m. CST).
