STORM LAKE, Iowa (March 24, 2022) - The Buena Vista baseball team will head to Pella, Iowa on Friday to begin a 3-game series against Central College. The series will represent the beginning of conference play for both squads.

ABOUT CENTRAL
Central College returns home after their Florida trip, looking to extend their 7-game winning streak. Colton DeRocher enters as the reigning A-R-C Position Player of the Week. The sophomore right fielder hit .677 across four games on the week, recording a multi-hit performance in three of the games. On the season, DeRocher ranks seventh in DIII, averaging 2.0 RBIs per game. Leading Central's pitching staff will be Wes Hamor, who enters the series as the reigning pitcher of the week. The freshman pitcher made his college debut where he struck out six batters in a 3-inning, no hit save. Over 2 games, Hamor held opponents to a .two63 batting average.
ABOUT BVU
The Beavers will hit the road again after a double header last Saturday vs Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. They split those games, losing the first game 5-1 and winning the second game 13-5. They will look to carry the momentum from the second game into this weekend. The Beavers have hit well so far this season, ranking 2nd in the A-R-C with 136 runs scored. Their lineup has received contributions from freshmen hitters Joel Garcia and Evan Taylor. The pair currently ranks 4th in the A-R-C with a 0.400 batting average. Zack Beekmann has also been a force, ranking 5th in the A-R-C with 2 homeruns while batting 0.339 on the year. The pitching staff has been led by Freshmen Mark Eddie, who currently ranks 9th in the A-R-C with a 3.63 ERA. Junior Dalton Glenn has been a workhorse for the staff having pitched 17.1 innings. That mark currently ranks 12th in the A-R-C.
