WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 11, 2022) - Buena Vista senior Becca Simpson saved her best performance in the weight throw this season until the end as she claims a seventh-place overall finish at tthe 2022 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday morning.

Simpson qualified seventh into the finals with a heave of 17.26m and then on each of her first two attempts in the finals would break the school record, including a 17.66m toss on her second attempt which gave her a seventh-place finish.  Simpson becomes the program's first indoor All-American since Morgan Darrow did so in the shot put back in 2010.  This marks the first time that BVU has a woman All-American in the weight throw.

Simpson was one of three individuals from the American Rivers Conference land All-American performances.  The University of Dubuque's Kaitlyn Wilder was the national champion with a mark of 19.28m while the Spartans' Caroline Ferguson took sixth just ahead of Simpson at 17.88m.

The weight throw was the first of two events for Simpson at this weekend's championships.  She wll look to become a two-time All-American on Saturday when she competes in the shot put at 10:00 a.m. EST (9:00 a.m. CST).
