STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista Esports team competes in three different leagues on Tuesday evening. Rocket League opened up regular season play in NECC competition finishing 1-1 while Madden played preseason matches in PlayVs and went 3-3. Tigges had a solid night on the track in Texas finishing 34th in the feature.
The Beavers opened up the night competing in Madden preseason matches in PlayVs competition.
Chris Tovar and
Cade Cunningham started the night with victories. Tovar beat Maveric Muscat of Lawrence Tech (Mich.) 3-0. Tovar won 31-21, 21-7 and 27-13 while Cunningham won 2-1 against Christian Hanna of Glenville State College 38-20, 21-7, 17-28. Lavell Harris picked up the victory over Nicholas Bortz of Temple University winning 28-7 before his opponent left for the night.
Raymond Boeset had a tough 1-2 loss against Andrew Burk of Concordia University (Mich.) by scores of 0-13, 26-23 and 16-36.
Brenden Oliver also fell to DeJon Harris of Clarke University 1-2 and
Zackary Huffman fell 0-2 against Evan Moreland of Potomac State College of West Virginia.
BVU Navy opened up their NECC regular season competition with a 3-0 win over St. Ambrose University. The Beavers won three close matches 4-2, 3-2 and 2-1 in overtime. In game one
Skyler Keller had three goals and five shots while
Dylan Laughlin also added a goal. In game two Laughlin scored all three goals with four shots while in the third and final game. In the third game Laughlin scored the game winning 2-1 in overtime. They are 1-0 in the NECC.
BVU White took action in game two for the Rocket League team but would fall 3-1 against Missouri Baptist in four close games. BVU took game one 3-2 with
Nick Rose scoring twice and
Nathan Jaeger scoring once. The rest of the games were close but BVU fell 3-1, 2-1 and 2-1. They fall to 0-1 on the season.
On the race track at Texas
Joshua Tigges had an incredible night for his second race of the season. Tigges qualified 10th advancing straight to the feature. He was running as high as 7th place in the feature until some mistakes strategy wise pushed him back to 18th. He was then forced into a pack where he had two accidents he couldn't avoid.
