CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (May 13, 2021) - The late season power surge continued for the Buena Vista University softball team on Thursday afternoon as the Beavers connected for five home runs to help send them to upset wins over No. 1 Coe and No. 4 seed Luther, respectively.
The Kohawks held an early 2-0 lead after an inning, and that lead stood until BVU chalked up three runs in the fourth to go in front 3-2. Senior
Carlee Guyett got the rally going by belting her team-leading sixth home run of the season before Mckynze Hansen roped an opposite field, 2-run triple.

Rylee Cain added a sacrifice fly and Hansen launched a three-run to straight away centerfield and an 8-2 lead.
Coe got back as close as 8-5 after a 3-run home run of its own in the bottom of the fifth but it was all Beavers from there.Â
Michaela Mason hit a solo home run to begin the sixth before Cain added an RBI double for the game's final score.

Mason then singled home a run in the second and then launched her second home run of the day in the third to make it a 5-0 cushion.Â
Carrie Dose, who hit the big grand slam during Wednesday's victory over Loras, connected for her second home run of the year in the sixth for a 6-0 lead. Luther got a solo home run in the bottom of that inning for its only run of the game.
