Men's Soccer Comes up Short in 5-2 Loss to Duhawks

STORM LAKE, Iowa (April 10, 2021) - Chris Miller scored a pair of goals for the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Saturday against Lora College but it wasn't quite enough as the Duhawks hung on for a 5-2 victory over the Beavers inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.

Loras scored three early goals and had a 3-0 lead less than 20 minutes into the match.  Miller put the Beavers on the board with the first of his two goals during the 31st minute to make it a 3-1 score at the half.

Reed Miklavcic, who finished with a hat trick for the Duhawks, scored the final two of those three goals early in the second half to extend their lead to 5-1 before Miller added his second goal of the day for BVU in the closing minutes.

Loras (3-0-2, 3-0-2 A-R-C) held a 14-3 edge in total shots, with seven of those coming on-goal.  It was just the second time in five matches this season that the team allowed multiple goals in a single match.

Jarrod Daniel, who was one of three seniors recognize prior to the match as part of the team's Senior Day festivites, got the start in-goal and went the distance while finishing with a pair of saves.

Buena Vista (0-5, 0-5 A-R-C) heads to the University of Dubuque next Saturday, April 17, before closing out its home schedule on Wednesday, April 21, by hosting Central College at 7:30 p.m.
