STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Esports team had a busy week in the Esports room. Rainbow Six Siege continued play in the FACEIT Central League while Madden and FIFA started their first ever competition playing in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) leagues.

On Monday, February 1 the Beavers (0-3) competed against Indiana University (1-2) in Rainbow Six Siege. The Beavers team consisted of players Aaron Plyum, Micheal Melohn, Jon Flaws, Dayne Lewis and Abigail Kraft. BVU has been improving the last few weeks and continued against the Hoosiers. Kraft played well for the Beavers getting a few kills during the match. Plyum is a recent addition to the squad and helped with communication and understating strategies on how to improve. Despite a better effort the Beavers fell to the Hoosiers 7-2 and 7-1.

Also, on Monday the Beavers had three players scheduled to play in their first NACE Playstation Madden match. Derien Beauregard (0-0) had a bye but unfortunately Kyle Miller (1-0) and Nico Flores (1-0)  received forfeits due to their opponent not showing up.

On Wednesday, February 3 John Corcoran (0-1) played in the NACE FIFA Playstation league. This was Corcoran's first game as he competed against a player from Southwest Minnesota State University. During the first match Corcoran showed a little rust falling 5-0 but improved in the second match but fell 2-0.

On Thursday, February 4 Tanner Frost (1-0) and Ramon Garcia (1-0) were scheduled to play in the NACE FIFA XBox league. Again their players did not show up to play so both of them won by forfeits.

Next week the Beavers have another busy week. Rainbow Six Siege will be playing in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) league against Concordia-Wisconsin on Monday, February 8 at 6:30 pm. Also, on Monday Madden will be playing their second week of the NACE League.  Flores plays a student from Newberry College, Beauregard plays against a player from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Miller will play against a student from Muskingum University. Games start at 7 pm.

On Wednesday, February 9th Rainbow will play the University of Iowa in the FACIT league with a time to be determined. Corcoran will play on Wednesday as well against a player from Keiser University - Pembroke Pines at 7 pm in FIFA. The last event of the week will be on Thursday, February 10th as Frost is scheduled to play a student from the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 pm in XBox FIFA. Garcia is scheduled for a bye next week.
