STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team competed in the Collegiate Star League (CSL) Regional #4 on Sunday, February 21. The Beavers competed well but would fall to Iowa State University and Cornell College.
BVU opened the tournament against the top seed Iowa State University. In the three previous regional tournaments Iowa State has come out victorious. The Beavers played their best but could only take three stocks off the top seeded Cyclones falling 12-0.
The loss put the Beavers in the losers bracket against Cornell College who fell in their opening round match against Montana Tech. Cornell fell in a heartbreaker 1-0. BVU played better taking seven stocks from Cornell but ultimately fell 7-0.

Julian Juarez,
Jacob Sellers,
Ty Eklund and
Dalton Machholz.
Machholz competed in a solo tournament on Friday, February 19 which was hosed by Smash Buds (Milwaukee School or Engineering). There were 19 players that competed in the event. Machholz held his own finishing 9th overall. He fell to the top two finishers in the tournaments.
BVU will look to continue play in CSL as the next tournament is yet to be released.
