Crossing the Finish Line

Women's Track and Field | 2/20/2021 10:46:00 PM

DUBUQUE, Iowa (February 20, 2021) - The Buena Vista women's track & field team turned in yet another strong performance on Saturday, winning three individual titles and finishing second overall with 80 points, as the team took part in the University of Dubuque Triangular.

Sohomore Jadyn Forbes set a new facility record when she won the 800-meter run in 2:26.61.  Kiana Roderick finished just seconds off the pace in the mile run while Emily Hoesing ran against herself in the 5,000-meter run and finished in 18:27.09 which is the six-best time in the A-R-C this season.  Rebecca Simpson was the third champion on the day, and she did so in record-breaking fashion, setting a new school record of 16.25 meters in the weight throw.  She breaks her own record of 16.20 meters set last season and moves up to fifth in the A-R-C rankings this season.

Simpson also finished fourth in the shot put with Annie Brennan taking fifth.  Jessica Sump was second in the 55-meter hurdles.

The Beavers finished well in front of the Kohawks (35pts) as the host Spartans took the team race with 128 points.  BVU will continue to build on its performances again next Saturday as the team competes at the Central Triangular against both the host Dutch and Loras College, respectively.
