Women's Soccer Clipped 1-0 at Home against Finlandia

STORM LAKE, Iowa (October 9, 2021) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team outshout Finlandia 12-4 on Saturday afternoon but it was a hard luck goal scored by the Lions in the first half that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 win by the visitors.

The only shot that Finlandia was credited with in the first half was its goal off a corner kick attempt at the 37:02 mark.  BVU had five shots in the half and all were on-goal, but the Beavers could quite get one to squeak past.  It had multiple shot attempts deflect right off the cross bar.

Freshman Eliza Evans tallied five of the team's 12 shots in the contest, including three on-goal.  Senior Nikki Schuppan also had five with four coming on goal.

It's the fourth time this season that BVU has dropped a match by two goals or fewer.  Buena Vista is now 1-10 overall and will jump back into American Rivers Conference play on Tuesday night when it travels to Wartburg College for a 5:00 p.m. match-up with the Knights.
