Nicole Lange added 16 off the bench, but it wasn't quite enough as the Buena Vista women's basketball team fell at home to the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon, 74-66.
Gerke put the Beavers on top 12-11 with one of her two three-pointers in the game but the Spartans closed the final five minutes of the first quarter on a 15-7 run to take a 26-17 lead. Dubuque went up by as many as 15 in the second quarter before BVU cut it to a 43-31 deficit at the break. The margin grew to 16 early in the second half at 50-34 before the Beavers cut it back down to eight as late as the 3:12 mark. Dubuque answered back and led by 12 through three quarters. Neither team was able to go on much of a run in the final frame as the margin hovered right around 10 points for most of it. Â
