STORM LAKE, Iowa (February 5, 2020) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team returns to action this week hosting Loras College and Dubuque College on Wednesday night and Saturday. The Beavers will go for their first conference wins of the season.

The Beavers started off the month February being down eight at halftime to Luther but was not able to get the win losing 80-65. SeniorÂ
Destiny Einerwold scored a game-high 24 points and went 6-of-9 from the free throw line. Â
Erin Gerke chipped in with 13 points, making 5-of-11 from the field.Â
Nicole Lange also had an efficient day making five of eight from the field scoring eleven points.
SERIES OUTLOOK vs LORAS
It'll be the 72nd all-time meeting when the two teams take the floor on Wednesday night. The Duhawks have won the last four contests, including a 102-60 victory in what was a conference matchup between the two teams earlier this season. The first-ever meeting was back in 1986-87 and was a 73-67 victory for BVU.
SERIES OUTLOOK vs DUBUQUE
It'll be the 77th all-time meeting when the two teams take the floor on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans won the first contest this season, winning on January 11
th 76-63. Since 2015, Buena Vista has gone 7-1 against the Spartans. The first meeting between these two teams happened in 1982-83 with Buena Vista winning the game 49-40.
SCOUTING LORASÂ Â Â Â Â
The Duhawks are 9-1 in their last 10 games. They have won their last two conference games against Central (69-46) and Simpson (76-72). During conference play, the five starters are averaging double-digit points per games. Leading the way is Marissa Schroeder, averaging 15 points per game in conference play, shooting 46 percent from the field and hitting 78 percent from the free throw line. The starting five for Loras is coming off a game against Simpson in which all five starters scored in double figures with Macenzie Kraemer leading the way with 17 points while going perfect from the free throw line (6-6). Also having a big game was Kari Fitzpatrick who had 16 points and went perfect from behind the arc hitting 4 threes.Â

SCOUTING DUBUQUE
On Saturday, the Spartans ended a four-game losing streak by beating Nebraska Wesleyan (73-69). Alli Bailey led the way with 18 points and shooting 7-of-13 from the field. She also pulled down 8 rebounds. On the season, Alli is averaging 8.4 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field. The leading scorer of the Spartans is Tabria Thomas, who is 12 points per games while shooting 55 percent from the field. She also leads the team in steals with 45 on the season and in minutes played as well averaging 25 minutes a game.
ABOUT BUENA VISTA
The Beavers are going after their first conference win of the year as they begin to wind down toward the end of the season. The team is averaging 60.5ppg, shooting 37 percent for the field and 30 percent from downtown. Senior
Destiny Einerwold has scored in double figures in all but one game and leads the team and ranks third in the conference at 16.9ppg.  She's also eighth in field goal percentage and seventh in free-throw percentage.  The team sits eighth, just ahead of the Prairie Wolves, in scoring defense at 78.1ppg. Following the two home games this week, he Beavers are back on the road next Wednesday, February 12, as they make the trip to Waverly, Iowa, to face Wartburg College at 5:30 p.m.
