Destiny Einerwold added 11 points and four rebounds, but the Buena Vista women's basketball team came up short on the road at Coe College on Saturday afternoon, 68-43.
The Kohawks built a 17-7 lead after one quarter, but the Beavers were able to hang around and trailed only 33-22 at the break, despite shooting under 30 percent from the field in the half. The Kohawks began to pull away in the third quarter, pushing the margin to 16 heading to the fourth, and then outscoring BVU 19-10 in the final stanza.
BVU was held to 2-of-14 shooting from long range in the game, including 0-of-4 in the second half. The team ended the day at 28.8 percent shooting from the floor and was 7-of-12 at the free-throw line.
The Kohawks, meanwhile, made 7-of-19 shot attempts from long distance and converted 13-of-16 at the line. They out-rebounded BVU 46-31 on the glass and held a 16-0 advantage in second chance points.
Madeline Wilkins turned in a game-high 16 points to lead Coe (14-9, 9-5 A-R-C) while Jackie Feldt followed with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Buena Vista (1-22, 0-14 A-R-C) returns home on Wednesday night for its final home contest of the season when Central College pays a visit to Siebens Fieldhouse for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
