Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 22, 2020) - Buena Vista cut an 18-point halftime deficit down to nine midway through the third quarter, but that proved to be as close as the team could get the rest of the way as Central College hung on for a 71-56 victory inside of P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.

BVU trailed 38-20 at intermission and was just 7-of-23 shooting from the field in the opening half.  The team came out of the break strong, scoring the first six points of the third quarter to spark a 15-6 surge to pull within 44-35, but the Beavers scored just one point over the final 4:41 of the period and trailed 52-36 going to the fourth.  The lead quickly grew to 20 at the start of the fourth for the Dutch, who led by as many as 24.  BVU was able to end the game by scoring seven straight points, but it was too-little-too-late.

Senior Destiny Einerwold was a rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds and also coming up with three steals.  Junior Erin Gerke knocked down three of the team's seven long range buckets en route to 14 points and Jennifer Schneider added nine points.  Sophomore Nicole Lange came off the bench to score eight points and grab five boards in 21 minutes.

The Beavers were 33 percent from the field overall despite finishing 6-of-14 in the fourth quarter.

Central went just 5-of-20 from downtown but was able to score 44 of their 71 points in the paint.  The Dutch had four players score in double figures, led by Kendall Brown's 13.  Payton Rogers came off the bench to post a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.  Central (11-6, 3-5 A-R-C) has now won three straight games overall as BVU drops to 1-16 (0-8 A-R-C).

Buena Vista will be off again on Saturday and will begin the second half of the league schedule next Wednesday night by hosting Nebraska Wesleyan inside of Siebens Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.
