STORM LAKE - The Buena Vista volleyball team had one of its strongest hitting nights of the season on Thursday night, and what better time to have it, as the Beavers rolled to a 3-0 home sweep of Central College by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.
BVU finished the match with 41 kills and just 15 errors to give the team its second-highest attack percentage of the year at .224.  The Beavers closed strong with a match-high 18 kills and only three errors in the third set.
Sophomore
Sydney McLaren was the only players in the match to reach double-digits in kills as she chalked up 10 to lead a balanced Beaver attack. She had just one error and a strong .310 percentage. Freshman
Kaitie Serkiz, who had a career-high in kills last time out, was next at nine kills while
Camryn McClintock and
Hannah Smith each had seven.Â
Taylor Wedemeyer dished out 31 assists and is closing in on 450 for the year.
"That was a great team win," said BVU head coach
Aubrey Havlichek. "We spread our offense very well and had contributions from everyone. Cam is starting to find her groove in the middle which is exciting, going for a .417 this match. Summer continues to play at a very high level, averaging over 6.0 digs per set this match. A win is always great to walk away with, but a win in three sets is a big accomplishment. We are proud of the girls for getting the job done!"
Senior
Summer Goss had a match-high 19 digs and moved past Betsy Behrens for eighth on the program's all-time list with 1,243.
No player had more than eight kills for the Dutch, who had their nine-game win streak snapped and now sit at 12-4 (1-1 A-R-C). Â
Buena Vista was victorious for only the third time against Central in the last 19 meetings, dating back to 2003. All three wins have come at home and were all three sweeps. The Beavers are now 4-10 overall this season and 1-1 in conference play. The team is off until continuing A-R-C play on Tuesday, October 1, at Simpson College beginning at 7 p.m.
