Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Buena Vista softball team had its six-game win streak snapped with an 11-4 setback against Millikin to begin the day Saturday, but the Beavers overcame an early 3-1 deficit against UW-La Crosse later in the day to score nine unanswered runs to win 10-3.

Millikin stormed out of the gate to score five runs in the first inning but the Beavers didn't back down.  Kate Lesmeister blasted a two-run home run over the fence in left to get the team within 6-4 in the fifth.  BVU came close to getting out of the sixth inning without allowing a run, but after not getting the call on a play at the plate which would have been the third out, the team saw Millikin score five times and break open an 11-4 lead.

Savanna Pohlman and Michaela Mason each had two hits and scored a run for the Beavers.  Marissa Promes did go the distance in the circle for BVU and was charged with eight earned runs.

UW-La Crosse took an early 3-1 lead but BVU broke open the game with four runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Carlee Guyett had her fourth multi-hit game of the year by going 2-for-4 and has now hit safely in four straight contests.  Ashtyn Miller had a career-high three hits, including her first career triple, and also set a career-high with two RBI.  Lesmeister added two more hits and her two RBI push her up to 13 on the year.

The Beavers outhit the Eagles (5-5) in the contest, 16-5.

Peyton Gross improved to 5-0 on the year after going 5.0 innings and allowing three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out five.

Buena Vista is now 8-4 on the year and will play two more games on Sunday starting with an 11:00 a.m. first pitch against Augsburg College.  It will then face Hamline at 1:00 p.m. instead of Edgewood as originally scheduled. They will wait until Monday to face Edgewood.
