Box Score

The Buena Vista football team took the field for the final time on Saturday, and it was a tough way to end the season as Simpson College chalked up over 600 yards of total offense and handed the Beavers a 56-7 home loss.

Simpson received the opening kick-off and went 76 yards in just seven plays to get a one-yard touchdown surge to take a 7-0 lead just over two minutes into the game.  After BVU went three-and-out, the Storm came right back down the field in seven plays, capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass.

BVU had zero yards of total offense through three possessions and were forced to punt each time.  The Storm took the third punt and on the third play from scrimmage got a 51-yard touchdown pass to make it a 21-0 lead.  They later added a four-yard strike to make it 28-0 after one quarter.

Simpson added a touchdown run and a pass later in the second quarter before intercepting a pass at the Beaver 42-yard line and returning it for a touchdown with under a minute left in the half to take a 41-0 lead.

The two defenses held tough throughout the third quarer with the only scoring coming on a Simpson safety with 57 seconds left.  After receving the free kick, the Storm marched down the field in five plays to score on an eight-yard touchdown pass less than a minute into the fourth.

Bryland Menicucci had a career-high 96 yards on the ground for the Beavers on 14 rushes.

Cam Bunting at 254 yards rushing to help lead the Storm offense which chalked up 431 yards on the ground.  Tanner Krueger threw for 268 yards and five scores while also finishing second on the team with 71 yards rushing.  All five touchdown passes were to five different receivers.
