Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Buena Vista softball team is taking part in the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament over the weekend, and the Beavers got things started on Saturday morning with losses to Anderson (Ind.) and DePauw by 63 and 7-2 scores, respectively.

Against Anderson, BVU scored three times in the third to take a 3-1 lead.  Michaela Mason tied things with a home run to left center before a Keely Bycroft RBi single made it a 2-1 lead.  Cheyanne Boland succeeded on a squeeze bunt to cap the scoring.

Anderson got one run back in the home half of the third before plating three in the fourth and one more in the fifth.

Bycroft and Taylor Frain each finished with two hits with Bycroft and Autumn Boland stealing one base.

Bycroft also suffered the loss after being charged with five runs and eight hits

The Beavers again led against DePauw, scoring a run in the first inning.  The game was still tied at 2-2 after four complete frames before DePauw added two in the fifth and three more in the seventh.  BVU was able to get one more across in their final at-bat, but was not enough.

Mason added two more hits and drove in one as BVU was held to only six hits.

Moriah Gueytt went 6.1 innings for BVU and allowed all seven runs on 11 hits.

Buena Vista is now 13-9 on the year and will look to bounce back in its final two games of the tournament on Sunday.  The Beavers will take on the hosts at 9:00am before cosing out against Anderson at 11:00am.
