Box Score After trailing by 12 in the first quarter, Buena Vista came charging back to tie it at 24-24, but the Kohawks then began the second quarter on an 11-0 run and never looked back en route to an 81-64 victory over the Beavers on Wednesday night in Cedar Rapids.
BVU went without a field goal (0-for-15) in the second quarter and got only a free-throw from Jasmine Demers with 2:30 left in the period. The Kohawks got a three-pointer midway through the period to go in front by 11 but then did not score again until their bucket with 1:30 left.
Coe outscored BVU 18-16 in the third, and the Beavers were unable to get any closer than 12 in the fourth en route to their third straight loss.
Muhlbauer continues her stellar play with a team-high 16 points, inclduing four three-point makes. She also hauled in eight boards. Liz Riessen came off the bench and scored a career-high 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with three rebounds and three assists.
Jordan Tynes grabbed 10 rebounds while Holly Schneider dished out four assists.
The Beavers were held to 28 percent shooting, despite making 10 treys. They also struggled a bit at the free-throw line, making just 14-of-24.
Jenna Lehman scored a game-high 24 points for the Kohawks while Aleena Hobbs was right behind with 21.
Buena Vista is now 8-8 overall (4-3 IIAC) and will try and get back into the win column when it hosts Luther College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm. The Norse dealt BVU a tough 71-63 loss in Decorah last Saturday.
