Men's Soccer Unbeaten in Last Three Outings with 1-1 Tie at Cornell

Box Score

Gum Riak scored his second goal in as many days to give the Buena Vista men's soccer team a 1-0 lead in the second half, but Cornell College put up a late score in regulation, and the two teams would go on to play to a 1-1 (2OT) tie in Mt. Vernon.

Riak now has six goals scored this season after posting the team's final goal in the 3-0 victory over Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday.  His 11 points are also a team-best.

The Beavers appeared to be on their way to matching last year's win total before the Rams tied things up during the 84'.

Both teams were nearly even in total shots in the contest with Cornell holding a slim 9-6 edge in shots-on-goal.

Senior Matt Tennyson went the distance in-goal for the Beavers and was tough all day, coming up with eight saves and allowing just the one goal.

The three-match unbeaten streak is the program's longest since it also went three straight without a loss to begin the 2014 campaign. It will look to make it four straight when it travels to Northwestern College (IA) on Wednesday, September 21, for a 7:15pm contest.
